Having completed the stand and ancillaries for the model, the next section is about building the main affair: the engine proper. Continue reading Clerget 9B– Hasegawa 1:8 white metal kit (Part 2)
As I mentioned at the end of my last post, I’ve been taking a small break from the boat building to assemble Hasegawa’s white metal version of their 1:8 scale Clerget 9B engine.
This is the final update on the build of this Camel. There’s not a huge amount to say really, as only a small amount of the rigging remained to be completed. In fact only 3 or 4 wires needed to be added, and they were only delayed because I’d run out of the necessary wire when I made the previous post. Continue reading SOPWITH CAMEL F1 (2nd Build) – HASEGAWA 1:8 (Part 4)
Well it’s been considerably longer since the last post than I intended, but I’ve been busy doing the ill thing again.
Progress on the Camel hasn’t been static for all that time though and it is now practically complete and I’m looking towards my next project which is of a more nautical nature. Continue reading SOPWITH CAMEL F1 (2nd Build) – HASEGAWA 1:8 (Part 3)
Work has continued to go well on this second Camel build and a number of modifications have been incorporated as a result of experience gained during the first build. Continue reading SOPWITH CAMEL F1 (2nd Build) – HASEGAWA 1:8 (Part 2)
The blog has been quiet for the last couple of months, but not due to inactivity at MBIQ Mansions. I am in fact in the process of building a second Hasegawa 1:8 Camel F1, this time as a commission. I’ve been contemplating whether it was worth documenting the build as 90% of it is a straight repeat of my first build covered earlier. However, as I’ve progressed with the project I’ve been able to incorporate a number of changes and improvements that are absent in my first build, so I thought it might be useful to at least highlight some of them. Continue reading SOPWITH CAMEL F1 (2nd Build) – HASEGAWA 1:8 (Part 1)
Very much on the home run now. All that was left in the build was to add the propeller and wheels to the model and a few minor finishing tweaks.
We’re on the final lap now and hopefully the model will soon be completed and hung up in our living room, to complement the Sopwith Camel. Continue reading FOKKER DR.1 – HASEGAWA 1:8 (PART 16) Top Wing Covering and Fuselage Tidying Up
Now it was onto a part of the build that I had been dreading. Covering the fuselage and rudder. Continue reading FOKKER DR.1 – HASEGAWA 1:8 (PART 15) Fuselage Covering and Wing Installation
It’s been a while since my last post, but I’ve been busy in the interim completing a lot of detail tasks on the Fokker as well as building a second 1:72 Hawker Hurricane and diorama, as I liked the one I made for my friend so much I wanted something similar for myself. There are still a couple of figures to complete for that, but I’ll put up a short post on it when they’re done. Continue reading FOKKER DR.1 – HASEGAWA 1:8 (PART 14) Rigging & Ailerons
